Classically trained Soprano Abigail Smith LRAM graduated with honours from the Royal Academy of Music, having studied with singing Professors Elizabeth Ritchie and Audrey Hyland. Solo operatic experience to date includes; Lauretta in Bizet’s Doctor Miracle, Monica in Menotti’s The Medium, Bastienna in Mozart’s Bastien and Bastienna, Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro, Susanna in Wolf-Ferrari’s Il segreto di Susanna, Mary in Stephen Dodgson’sPremiere of Nancy and the Waterman and chorus in the premiere of Dardanus by Rameau for Royal Academy Opera and La Traviata, Idomeneo and La Boheme with St. Albans Chamber Opera.
On the recital and concert platform Abigail has performed extensively in Britain, Russia and across Europe. Solo performances include St Martin–in–the-fields, The Royal Albert Hall, Spitalfields festival, the Wigmore Hall, Wells Cathedral, English Touring Operaand various works accompanied by the Southbank Sinfonia. Recently Abigail featured on an album of songs for voice and harp (Divine Records) and was a finalist in the Yamaha Scholarship Competition. Abigail has previously won the Sherrards and Observer Excellence award, the Edith Oulten de Pauley Associated Board prize, the Guinness Music in Community prize, Hertfordshire Young Musician of the Year and appeared as the youngest contestant on Channel 4’s series Operatunity.
